[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he United States will have one of its strongest lineups to challenge south Africa in the USPA International Cup next week Saturday, 28 November at the Grand Champions Polo Club.
Teams
Nic Roldan and Julio Arellano are the US’s top-rated players at eight goals. They will join seven-goaler, Jeff Hall, and top amateur, Marc Ganzi, on the US team in the USPA International Cup. It will be the fourth time that the Grand Champions Polo Club will host a major international men’s game in its nine-year history. Since 2012, the US has beaten England, Chile and Mexico in the USPA International Cup play.
“It’s always a great feeling to play for your country,” Roldan said. “When you have the U.S. jersey on it has a lot more meaning to it, there’s a different meaning. We don’t get to do it too often so when we do, we take pride in it, we try to do our best and try to get the trophy.”
The South African USPA International Cup team members include Selby Williamson, Chris MacKenzie, Gareth Evans, and team captain, Tom de Bruin. Roldan believes that the South African team is strong and balanced, making them strong contenders in this year’s cup.
