LA28 – SANTA ANITA PARK

The LA28 Olympic equestrian events will be held at Santa Anita Park, which was also the home of horse sports at the 1984 Olympic Games. In 1984, the cross-country for the Olympic eventing was held at a satellite venue (Fairbanks Ranch Country Club in San Diego County) but 2028 will see all phases of the equestrian disciplines hosted at Santa Anita Park.

At the last LA Games, the US won three equestrian gold medals – team in eventing and showjumping and individual in showjumping for Joe Fargis and A Touch of Class. Reiner Klimke and Ahlerich led the German dressage team to victory, whilst also clinching individual gold, and Mark Todd and Charisma sealed the first of their back-to-back individual eventing titles.

Santa Anita Park operates mainly as a racecourse and has hosted the Breeders’ Cup numerous times. It also holds international showjumping events, such as World Cup Qualifiers. Its grandstand seats 26,000 spectators and its grounds can accommodate up to 50,000 people. There are 61 barns that can house more than 2000 horses, plus an on-site vet clinic.

The LA28 Olympics will run from the 14th – 30th July 2028.
