Day 1 of the first leg of the KPC league saw a myriad of SA’s top showjumpers aboard their future champions.

Dominey Alexander jumped some classy clear rounds on two of his future prospects. One on One Coach’s Cellehof Pirelli, at only his second show, revealed his exceptional temperament, cantering around the 90cm tracks like he was a seasoned competitor.
Pirelli is one of Dominey’s home breds, by Lisa Williams Regenesis Vet Perouges (who incidentally placed in his first 1.50m class at the 334 sport horse stud WCQ). Perouges is a half-brother to Lisa’s world-class competitor Campbell, as they share a mother; Lawina (Laptop x Accord II). Pirelli also happens to be the firstborn of Dominey’s top showjumping mare, Alzu Omission (Optimum van de Wellington x Carrick), so if pedigree is anything to go by, this boy is destined for big things!

Some of our other top show jumpers spotted in the 90cm class included Tamar Gliksman and her special 5yo mare Capital Cabaret (Capital Colnardo x Capital Don Cumarco), whom she acquired off last year’s Capital auction. Tamar adores this sensitive mare and from what we saw today, we can understand why! The Healy’s were also in action, with Ashlee jumping a lovely clear on one of her World Cup-winning stallion’s (Hausberger’s Eldo) progeny, the 5yo mare Naiade De Thieusies. And Ronnie picked up a ticket in the second class on the 6yo gelding Capital Kingston (Capital Kronos x Capital A Star).

It was so heart-warming to see so many of our top riders jumping their future champions around the small classes. These young horses are certainly bred for the job but surely have the best chance of making it to the top with such accomplished horse men and women training and producing them!
