EMMETT Technique courses in SA in October

The EMMETT Technique was developed in North Queensland by Ross Emmett and is practiced internationally across 40 countries. In October, Helen Walker an EMMETT Technique practitioner is coming out to South Africa to teach courses on the EMMETT Technique in the Western Cape, Gauteng and KwaZulu Natal.

What is EMMETT Technique?

The EMMETT Technique is an effective, gentle and easy to apply muscle release therapy. It is used to ease pain and discomfort, improve body movement and release restrictions. This unique therapy can help to restore muscle function and balance.

The technique is performed on horses, dogs and people. It is a unique form of body therapy involving light finger pressure at specific points on the body. This neuromuscular therapy assists in reprogramming and recalibrating muscle activity. The technique is safe and non-invasive and provides relief from pain and discomfort, increases movement and improves the quality of life for many people and animals.

The EMMETT Technique may relieve symptoms associated with:

  • Injury due to sport or accidents;
  • An unbalanced gait or stance;
  • Tack issues;
  • Inhibited movement;
  • Poor performance; and
  • Behaviour changes.

EMMETT practitioners

Currently, the only way an animal can receive an EMMETT treatment in South Africa is for the owner to attend an EMMETT 4 Horses Course and learn effective moves to self-treat their animal.

The short course

The short course focuses on teaching the foundation principles of the technique to provide a solid foundation for students to learn to care for their own horse’s muscles. No prior learning is necessary to join the course.

The course is six hours long and is a great introduction to this work. It is perfect for anyone wanting to learn some simple corrections to help their own animals, as well as for animal therapists looking to add another string to their bow. In just one-day people can learn easy corrections to help ease pain and discomfort, increase movement and improve quality of life for the animal.

Dates of the horse courses

Western Cape: 5th October in Noordhoek

KwaZulu Natal: 12th October in Assagay

Gauteng: 19th October Glenferness
