Four South Africans and Zimbabwe’s Charley Barford confirmed for Aachen showjumping.
South Africa will send four showjumping combinations to the FEI World Championships in Aachen this month, after the final list of definite entries confirmed the country’s place among 179 horse and rider combinations from 55 nations.
The confirmed South African combinations are Charlie Bays and Ninety Stone Pullman, Ronnie Healy and Cornet’s Mandarino, Oliver Lazarus and Conbalthago PS, and Tamara Rueda and Callaho Liantos.
They are joined in the regional line-up by Zimbabwe’s Charley-Ann Barford, riding Odiena Van Berimar, the only other Southern African representative on the confirmed showjumping list for the big classes. Barford is entered as an individual.
Excitingly Janine Coetzee of South Africa has also qualified to take part in the Young Rider showjumping classes at Aachen the same week.
Each nation could enter up to five combinations, of which four contest both the team and individual competitions. The showjumping gets under way with the warm-up round on 18 August, with the championships running to 23 August. The World Championships also form part of the qualification pathway toward the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, which gives this year’s results an added weight for the combinations chasing that cycle.
HQ will be following the South African and Zimbabwean rounds throughout the championships.
