Of the 20 stallions licensed in this year’s KWPN Fall Performance Test, the best was the six-year-old Chacoon Blue stallion, Cero Blue TN, who is out of a Balou du Rouet x Cero I dam. This classy stallion has already jumped his first 1.35m with Team Nijhof rider Kars Bonhof.
The young stallion scored an unprecedented 91 points in his KWPN Performance Test. He received 9s for his canter and all jumping components, as well as a 9.5 for technique! Cero Blue TN was bred by Harm Thormählen, Team Nijhof and Kees van den Oetlaar and was described as a horse that “does everything well” by the KWPN Chairman.
Cero Blue TN has quite a few progeny, but the oldest are only rising three years old, so it might be some time before we get an idea of what he produces. According to Team Nijhof, he adds “quality, charisma, rideability and attitude to his offspring” – all sought-after qualities. For now, he is showing exceptional promise as both a top competitor and potential sire!
Chatasia PS is a local Chacoon Blue that some in the Western Cape might have spotted in the showjumping ring with Clinton de La Hunt. She was bought off the Paul Schoekemoele online auction and imported to South Africa in 2021. Halley and Clinton say Chatasia (aka Daisy) “is the friendliest mare we know; she has the sweetest personality, especially on the ground. She is very sharp and has quite a lot of blood, so we have taken it slow and steady with her in the jumping, but, saying that, she is a very quick learner and loves her job. We are keeping fingers crossed she will be good enough for the 1.50m classes in the next few years”. We think this is a mare with exceptional potential as she is not only by a top sire, but her dam (Voltaire x Alme) has produced three 1.50m+ showjumpers: Kokain, Chacol and Cleartoon.
