Lameness is an abnormality of gait that is caused by pain and\/or restriction of movement.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s very upsetting when your special pony is lame, particularly if you don’t know exactly what is wrong. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the next few days we’ll be looking at the most common causes of lameness in our ponies, and how they can be managed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are the causes you can expect to read about over the course of this week:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Suspensory or tendon inflammation<\/li>
  2. Suspensory or tendon tear<\/li>
  3. Synovitis of the joints<\/li>
  4. Degenerative joint disease<\/li>
  5. Fractures<\/li>
  6. Deep digital tendonitis<\/li>
  7. Hoof abscesses<\/li>
  8. Navicular disease<\/li>
  9. Laminitis<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
