These areas (as discussed briefly in the previous posts) can all provide helpful clues about the health of your pony. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want all of these areas to be a nice salmon pink colour. If you notice any of the following colour changes to the mucous membranes call your vet immediately:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Pale pink \u2013 this suggests shock or an infection like biliary.<\/li><li>Red \u2013 this suggests toxicity.<\/li><li>Blue\/purple \u2013 these indicate low oxygen levels.<\/li><li>Yellow \u2013 this suggests issues with the liver.<\/li><li>Red streaks or red spots (petechiae) \u2013 these suggest serious infections (e.g. AHS).<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Your pony\u2019s mucous membranes include his gums, his nostrils and his eyelids.
