Hock boots are typically worn during travel or when stabled. Some horses manage to dig out their bedding and end up lying down on the concrete base, resulting in sores on the hocks. Other horses might have a tendency to knock their hocks against the sides of a box, and in these cases, hock boots are very helpful with preventing injury. Most hock boots are manufactured from neoprene and secured with Velcro straps. Elasticated edges allow for flexibility of movement.
