Capstone Electrolyte for horses
Horses sweat to lose heat generated by muscular activity or stress, thereby losing essential electrolytes.
A loss of electrolytes leads to fatigue and decreases thirst. If these electrolytes are not replaced this can lead to dehydration, overheating, trembling, an unsteady gait and muscular weakness.
During periods of sweat it is therefore important to supplement with a good quality electrolyte at an appropriate level for the amount of sweat produced.
A well-formulated electrolyte supplement should be primarily sodium chloride (salt). Other ingredients may include potassium, calcium, and magnesium.
