Two generations, one dream
There is something quietly extraordinary about chatting to Felicity Theunissen. She is 13 years old. And yet she speaks about horses, pressure, and the road ahead with a clarity that would put many seasoned competitors to shame.
In our latest Heard at HQ interview, we brought Felicity together with Ronnie Healy, her coach and one of South Africa’s most accomplished professional showjumpers, a man who has competed at both the Hickstead Derby and the Hamburg Derby, and who now coaches the next generation from his base at RH Equestrian in Kyalami.
Together, they discuss Felicity’s first Grand Prix and her upcoming trip to Germany with Ronnie and, of course, Ronnie’s journey in Europe and his plans for this stint.
Two very different points on the same journey, yet two people who love this sport in the same bone-deep way.
This conversation is part of our ongoing Heard at HQ series, where we go deeper with the people shaping South African equestrianism. Subscribe to the HQ newsletter or WhatsApp channel to be notified when new episodes are released.
